The brief
Every Blue Sky Studio project begins with listening.
“We just bought this house, but we don’t know what to do with it. Can you help us see what it could become?”
About the project
A just-purchased Chapman Woods house re-composed, room by room, for a growing family — inside and out, formal and everyday.
The owners had found the neighborhood before they found the house. Chapman Woods had long been on their list — but the home itself, a tired traditional, needed a plan before it could begin to feel like theirs.
The redesign preserved the house’s generous bones while reorganizing it entirely. A new entry sequence, a re-drawn family room, and a kitchen re-engineered for the way a family actually cooks together pulled the heart of the house forward. Careful storage — an often-overlooked luxury — was written into every room.
Outside, the exterior was refreshed with a lighter color palette, a re-scaled entry, and landscaped forecourt that ties the house back to the quiet streets of Chapman Woods.
